Customers with hidden disabilities travelling through Palmerston North Airport can now do so a little easier thanks to the introduction of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard programme.

Like many airports around the world, Palmerston North Airport has adopted the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard programme to help support those living with a hidden disability.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard programme is about supporting people with a hidden disability, making the invisible, visible, and helping them attain the understanding, patience and assistance needed when going about their daily lives when shopping, using public transport or when in public spaces.

Wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard discreetly indicates to our airport team members that customers may need additional support, help or a little more time.

Chief Executive Officer, David Lanham says “We know airports can be overwhelming for people at times, so we want to be able to identify our customers with hidden disabilities and to make their airport experience as easy as possible.”

“In addition to making the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyards available we are in the process of boosting our frontline customer service team numbers in order to improve the customer experience for all airport users.”
