The second stage of the Palmerston North Airport’s pick up & drop off redevelopment is set to get underway.

The trial of the P5 parallel pick up and drop off zone at the front of the General Carpark and adjacent to the terminal frontage has proven to be popular with airport users.

With a safety review of the carpark layout now completed, the next stage of works will include the construction of canopies along the pick up and drop off area adjacent to the terminal. This area will provide airport users with weather protection while picking up or dropping off, gabion seating for passengers waiting for their pickup, undercover trolley bays and push-bike stands.

Palmerston North Airport’s Chief Executive David Lanham said that it’s great to see our community embracing the new pick up & drop off model.

“We are now looking forward to delivering the next important stage of this project with areas of semi-cover being provided,” he said.

Design of the canopy structures is now being finalised, with construction planned to commence in late March 2022.

Other planned enhancements as part of the overall Terminal Development Plan will be announced over the coming months.
