Alongside the timber structure, floor works inside the western end have been completed, and roof sheeting has now started. The internal fit out for this area will begin soon, with baggage handling equipment due to start arriving this month.

Civil works have commenced in the cargo pick-up and drop-off area, and the airline operators back of house offices are also progressing well. It’s a big moment in the build as the space is starting to feel less like a construction site and more like the terminal it will become.

The temporary terminal continues to keep operations flowing while construction takes place, and we’re grateful to our visitors for their continued understanding.

We know a construction site isn’t anyone’s ideal airport experience, and we appreciate everyone’s patience.

The new terminal is being built to address three key constraints of the old building:

• Improved seismic resilience
• Room to accommodate future growth in passenger numbers
• Be passenger and bag screening-ready.

We anticipate that relocation to the first half of the new terminal will take place in January 2027, before we commence construction of the eastern end of the new terminal. The full terminal is set to be completed by the end of 2027.
